The Streatham Lib Dems have always campaigned against Post Office cuts

Chris Nicholson has criticised the Government and the Post Office for being intent on letting the Post Office network gradually decline following their letter rejecting his call for a new site to be considered for the Post Office on Streatham High Road.

His call for a new site to be considered came in the face of continuing problems for users gaining access to the Post Office on the first floor of WH Smith with the lift continually breaking down. But the Post Office has rejected his call.

"Based on the experience of the Streatham High Rd Post Office it appears the Post Office do not really want customers in their branches. And the Government seems happy to let the local Post Office network wither away," commented Chris.

"There is currently a Royal Mail bill going through Parliament but there is nothing in the bill designed to protect our local Post Offices. Liberal Democrats both locally and nationally will be fighting to save our Post Offices."
