Streatham's Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Spokesman, Chris Nicholson, has congratulated Friends of Streatham Vale Park for staging their fifth annual fun day.2.30.00pm GMT Tue 9th Sep 2008 "This is the second year I have attended the fun day. The weather was not as kind as last year but this did not deter the enthusiasm of the stallholders and those who took part" "The park is one of Streatham's best kept secrets, and the Friends' annual fun day is an excellent opportunity to make sure people know that behind Abercairn Road is an urban oasis.
"I know a number of local residents who use the park every week, whether for a stroll or to take their children to use the play equipment there. "The Friends Group has done excellent work in establishing a master plan to improve the park in the coming years. The Streatham Area Committee played a big role in funding that plan, and I know the Friends are now looking into lottery grants to get work started. "The Friends always need more help, so if you'd like to get involved do contact the Chair, Karen Davies" "I look forward to supporting their work over the coming year, and to the 2009 fun day. I hope the weather will be better then - but we know that even if it isn't, it takes more than a bit of rain to dampen spirits in Streatham Vale!"
